Meaning & Purpose : In this section, I will show how I solve some technique issues in premiere pro, a quick edit on timeline and some minor change compare between the storyboard and the actual scene.
Once the project is been created and well seated up, I had started importing every video from the "shortlist" folder. It will save me lots of time in the future by importing all the video all at the same time.
As I had renamed all the video earlier, I can easily recognised the content of the footage by the name. All the videos are well organised in alphabet order, it is so much easier for me to choose the right material and edit.
The first tool was the selection tool, it selects different items in premiere pro such as effect/ transition/volume. The sixth tool is cut tools. It trims the length of the audio and video in the timeline. This two tools are the most common tools for my editing process.
At first, I have roughly placed the footage into the timeline where it thinks is appropriate. In this earlier stage, I haven't apply any video / sound effect. At the beginning of the the video will be mainly Jeremy doing his prep in the room. In the middle section has more scene of the second actor, Alan.
While I was working on my rough cut, there was a lost footage happen in my premiere pro. Although all the videos are imported, Premiere Pro wasn't able to detect some certain footage in the shortlist folder. There is a media offline photo appear on the screen.
. Once it is been chosen, the graphic of the video will be fixed and re-appear again. This problem occur can relate to renaming after the project is been started.
Scene Changed
My original idea that I drew on the storyboard was Jeremy waiting Alan to come back from time. He was very impatient as he could find any food in the wardrobe. He had been waiting for a long time to him to come back from town to restore his food. However I think audience may not get the idea of that particular scene of time change. Therefore I had abandoned my idea and used crossing out the date on the calendar instead. It still represent time change and more important, audience can easily understand the meaning for this scene.
Filming the calendar is so much easier than my original idea as I had to set the camera in front of the calendar and carefully cross the date out. I had used a high key light and horizontal angle to film with it. To ensure the colour of the cross can out stand with the white background, I had used a bright yellow highlighter which will definitely catch audience attention.
In this scene, I had used a low key light, horizontal camera angle and combine with large aperture. This combination allows audience to pay more attention to the actor as the background is mostly blur due to the size of the aperture. I had also specially chose a bright colour bowl which out stand with the colour of the actor's jacket.
